I see “gross” as a relative term that is used to express our immediate reactions. Even if we don’t actually think something is gross, we may just not agree with it, or think it’s weird in some way. I use the term gross to explore how these reactions are presented in mainstream media. Most of what the media considers to be gross are human activities that most people do. Gross Girl is meant to embrace innate human behaviors that the media has shamed us for in order to profit off of it.
